The Genting group previously attempted and failed to obtain a local license when the local gaming market opened up, with casino operator Genting Singapore Plc having dissolved Genting Star (Macau) Ltd in 2006, an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary incorporated in Macau that was to be involved in local gaming operations. Singapore in 2007 issued a casino licence respectively to Genting Singapore Plc and Las Vegas Sands to operate one gaming resort each, namely Resorts World Sentosa and Marina Bay Sands. The exclusivity period for those licences expires in 2017. In February, Genting Singapore had its licence renewed for a three-year period. What are the chances of Genting Singapore winning a Japan casino license? International operators may be limited to JVs with Japanese partners. Japan has done it - of finally legalizes casinos, with proponents hoping to pass further legislation next year that would enable the first casino to open in the early 2020s. GENTING Singapore on Thursday said that the Casino Regulatory Authority of Singapore has renewed the casino licence of Resorts World at Sentosa for another three years, starting from Feb 6. Over the last 20 years, Genting Singapore PLC has been involved in gaming and integrated resort development in Australia, the Americas, Malaysia, the Philippines and the United Kingdom. They also own Resorts World Sentosa, a S$6.6 billion integrated resort development in Singapore'sSentosa island.
